Tobia will be the opening act for Tanya Tucker, an opportunity that presented itself earlier this month.

"I've been wanting to perform there for years," he said. "It's probably one of the best venues in this part of New York, and I'm thrilled."

Tobia, who is known for Roots Rock Americana music, wants to appeal to Tucker's audience and so is mulling over ideas about what to perform. His newest album, Aberdeen, came out this past summer and made it to number 13 on the AAA/AMA chart. The title track, Aberdeen, was picked as one of the top 10 songs of the week by Alternate Root Magazine.

"I may do some songs from Aberdeen, or some of my older songs," he said. "It will, however, be all my own stuff."

In a storied 40 year career, she has produced 23 Top 40 albums and a string of 56 Top 40 singles, 10 of which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts. Along the way, she has provided some of the biggest country music hits of each decade, including, “Blood Red and Goin’ Down,” “Would you Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone),” “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane,” and “Texas (When I Die).”

He shall live, and his albums his oeuvre, which is a blend of acoustic rock, country, blues and folk. Artie is a teller of stories, which are often very recognizable and help to better understand your own life.

It took a while before we even got to hear something new from Artie Tobia. His convalescence after an accident took a lot of time, but now he is back with his new studio album "Aberdeen". It's an album with new songs, which he recorded in The Loft Studios in Bronxville, NY, with his band. In the studio he sat with Mark Barden (guitar), Mark Bridgman (bass), Stuart Stahr (drums), Kevin Myers (keys) and Nicole Alifante (backing vocals).

That Artie Tobia a singer-songwriter is interpreted by us from the beginning. He opens with the roots rocker "Kryptonite", the story of a temptress, he somehow came across and made a great impression on him. It is clearly not the "Kryptonite", the fictional substance that lives its own in the Superman comics and in the number, the kingfisher which is based on that we know Chris Barron and his Spin Doctors from 1991. In "Big Bosom Lady "is also about encounters, but with people (often not the most appetizing) along the way. The title song "Aberdeen" is a love story between a wolf and a hawk who, despite their own challenges, never lose sight of one another. The song will acquaint the listener with the complexity of Artie's songwriting, which he put us through the day and the night, the forest and the sky leads. That Artie also can increase the pace, we hear the rockers' Mommy Calling Me "(with Kevin Myers on piano) and the lament of a failed relationship in" River Of Tears ". In the ballad "First He Was My Father" Artie is very personal and he tells us about a sick man, sometimes a cowboy sometimes he was a chief, but always in the first place was his father. Also, "Faces Of War (Ballad Of Johnny Garcia)" is a great ballad, with poignant and truthful song writing about loss and sorrow over all the agv war. With "Boom Boom Boom" the pace is again the height and Artie takes us for a walk, which starts in the center of the city and ends in the forest. The valve is literally (a) "Farewell", a sprawling Latin groove (the backing vocals are sung by Nicole Alifante), the end of a beautiful musical journey ...

Nine years after his album "Chasing The Sun" Artie Tobia went back into the studio and took nine numbers. They are personal stories, some of which you will perhaps recognize there and he wants to share with us. The album is a beautiful and varied album that everyone I very much recommend!

Eric Schuurmans
Artie Tobiatag:artietobia.com,2005:Post/39198752015-11-08T23:40:26-05:002024-02-17T00:31:57-05:00SWITZERLAND MEETS ARTIE TOBIA
Thank you Cathy Benedetto for the translation.

Wunderbare Entdeckungeen!

Wonderful Discoveries!

Paul Rostetter writes once a month about singer-songwriters - from folk to blues - from Americana to Rock

If one is out and about at the right time and can look at something of the countless new names in the American songwriting scene, one can always discover great programs, largely only of local importance, but supplying wonderful material. A downright brilliant example in this direction is Artie Tobia, a name that has been unknown in this country - until now.

Artie Tobia (Aberdeen. Red Tail Hawk Records) As unknown in this country as the record label is, is the protagonist Artie Tobias himself. Artie already has three albums. The new work, "Aberdeen", according to insiders and experts, is becoming among the best of his publishings. He has been, here and there, previously designated with big names on the stage divided between Chip Taylor or Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Already this entry shows why the new work is being praised. "Kryptonite" is a rocking love song of everything that distinguishes American rock these days. He reminds one of Springsteen, closer to John Mellencamp, or early Bob Seeger. That means good - accessible, strongly rhythmic songs with clean arrangements and engaging melodies. Outstanding is the fitting front voice of Artie Tobia together with the solid line work that characterizes the album. Also his songwriting you can see or hear for yourself. Not only driving love songs, but also intense tragic ballads very quietly intoned. Outwardly respectful, "Faces of War (The Ballad of Johnny Garcia) ", brings in a personal song that expresses the many of the tragedies of war. My favorite is the title track, "Aberdeen," with fine poetry packed in quiet sound but sometimes [zunftig] to and fro. "Boom Boom Boom" is a driving blues, "Mama calling Me," is one piano powered rock song, while "Farewell" verges towards a Rhumba and contains a little bit of guitar licks that are reminiscent of Carlos Santana. Then comes the much quieter remembrance of his dead father in "First He Was My Father," where the strong voice penetrates well. The recordings were produced in the Loft Studios in the Bronx, New York with small additions providing a delightfully good example of timeless American sound. A masterwork that only lacks commercial possibilities, barely in the racks to appear in our CD handlers.

Artie Tobiatag:artietobia.com,2005:Post/39198612015-11-08T22:57:14-05:002022-05-30T02:26:45-04:00River of Tears ~ Track for the Day ~ InternationallyJohn Godfrey's The Troubadour Show coming out of Spain, picked up on River of Tears and selected it as the Track of the Day for the week of October 14, 2015.
John is a True Americana Man check out his show as he supports the artists and the music of Americana. Started last July at the Loft Studios in Bronxville NY with Al Hemberger at the board and the full band ( Mark Barden, Mark Bridgman, Stuart Stahr and myself ) in the room we ran off a set of songs in performance style, recording the tracks live as we played them. Nicole Alifante added some sweet harmony vocals and Kevin Meyers added some keyboard touches. The album captures a set of nine songs ( I suppose one for each year) that we added over the years since the release of Chase The Sun.
Co Produced by myself and Al Hemberger with Stuart Stahr serving as Associate Producer it was a total team effort bringing the songs together sonically. I feel, for the first time that we truly captured my voice. The stories, as always are present and in the forefront of each song.

Stayed tuned for the drop date and more information about where you can purchase your copy of Aberdeen.

All artwork once again done by Brent Pruner.

Thanks for your interest and support,

be well,
ArtieArtie Tobiatag:artietobia.com,2005:Post/36540582015-04-12T16:03:29-04:002024-03-05T01:23:09-05:00New record is wrapping upI am very excited that the new record is in the final mastering process (putting on the final polish). It has been a delight working with Al Hemberger at the Loft Studios in Bronxville NY which has quite a roster of artists who have worked there. The new record features the band as we have been for the last seven years, with Mark Bridgman on bass, Stuart Stahr on drums and Mark Barden on guitar. There are a couple of special guests who join us,adding some texture and dynamics to the record. I genuinely feel that it is my best collection of songs by far. The tentative release date will be June1st. More details to follow... title, preview, artwork.Artie Tobiatag:artietobia.com,2005:Post/35640822015-02-27T21:25:41-05:002024-03-05T01:22:13-05:00Opening slots and finishing the new record 2015 looking strong! The David Cook (American Idol Winner) show was a great success. We filled the remaining seats and the house was packed. It was a great night meeting, making new fans and seeing some old familiar faces. I am so grateful for the support. The fourth record has entered the "rough final mix" stage and should be wrapped up before April 1, with a late spring release scheduled. A strong start to 2015 for sure.
There are some exciting possibilites in the months ahead. As they unfold I will share the details and hope to see you in the not too distant future as we keep moving through 2015 and beyond!

Be well,
Artie
http://www.lohud.com/story/entertainment/2015/02/03/artie-tobia-david-cook/22796057/

Artie Tobiatag:artietobia.com,2005:Post/32170922014-10-13T14:40:42-04:002024-03-05T01:20:27-05:00In the studio...Update on the new recordSo for the last few months I have been in the studio recording a new record. So far we have about eight tracks with the full band Mark Barden, Mark Bridgman and Stuart Stahr. We went in and recorded live (we all played at the same time) which just seems the right way to do it. I also recorded 9 solo tracks just acoustic and vocal. We are working up the final selection of songs, putting final touches on and getting final mixes. We are looking to release the record in early 2015.Artie Tobia
