The Tale...
BACKSTORY
I have been playing music a long time. I started out scared as all hell the first time I played in public. "Fronting" the band, I didn't move one step from the mic stand and never let go of it either, for the entire time we played. My first cover bands were classic and southern rock with a fair mix of the blues. That never really changed over the years. As I began writing my own songs I was greatly influenced by all those songs we had played. The first songs, with my band Five O'Clock Shadow, were more about the music and less about the lyric. I developed my craft as a writer further, upon discovering and being influenced by some of the great Texas songwriters. In finding my voice in stories full of characters from everyday life my lyrics came to the forefront of my songs.
SONGWRITING
My song catalog of originals is well now over a hundred songs at this point. You will find elements of rock, country, folk and blues on my albums and on stage.
You want to know who I am? Listen to my lyrics. I am right there hiding in plain sight.See if you can figure out who I am, what I am talking about through the characters, the stories.See if you can tell the truth from the lie. The auto biographical from the completely fictitious.
Find yourself in the songs and stories. Make connections to a specific line, a name, a place.Isn't that what a song is supposed to do? Create a dialogue between the song and the listener? Transporting us back in time, whenever we hear it, to that moment we heard it the first time.I want to touch you with my lyric....make a difference. My words nestling into your emotion.

"If there were a time warp, these guys would easily be sharing a stage with all those British and West Coast bands. Perhaps they’re a bit too mellow for the likes of Led Zeppelin, but Bill Graham would have loved them."
